Best Brunch in Gangnam Seoul? The Mignon Seoul Review

On Monday morning, I finished my work early and took the subway to enjoy brunch in Gangnam.

The Mignon Seoul (더미뇽 서울) is a Western-style restaurant between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. I had passed this street several times while visiting nearby cafes, but this was my first time eating here.

I visited alone to see whether The Mignon Seoul deserves a place among the best brunch restaurants in Gangnam. I ordered truffle mushroom gnocchi, seasonal fruit French toast and a glass of red wine. It turned into a much larger brunch than I had planned, but the gnocchi and mango-topped French toast gave me two very different reasons to remember the meal.

    Inside This Gangnam Brunch Restaurant

I entered at around 11:00 a.m., an easy time for a late breakfast or early lunch.

The restaurant has seating on both the first and second floors. The white walls, pale wood furniture and large windows created a bright and polished atmosphere without making the dining room feel excessively formal.

White walls, wood furniture and large windows give the restaurant a bright atmosphere.

Because I was dining alone, I was shown to a two-person table. Many of the smaller tables were positioned in the middle of the dining room, which was slightly uncomfortable for me because I usually prefer a seat along the wall.

Fortunately, I found an available two-person table near the side of the first floor. Once I settled there, I could enjoy my meal without feeling too exposed in the center of the room.

The restaurant suited my solo brunch, but the interior and table arrangement may appeal even more to couples or friends visiting together.

    Ordering at The Mignon Seoul

Orders are placed through a kiosk installed at each table. The screen displayed photographs of the dishes, which made it easier to compare the available options.

Payment was handled separately before leaving rather than directly through the kiosk.

Guests can browse the menu and place their orders through a kiosk at the table.

I also noticed a bottle of hand cream on the table. I do not often see hand cream provided at a restaurant, so it was a memorable detail.

The fragrance was fairly strong, however. I recommend using it after the meal rather than before eating, especially if you want to enjoy the aroma of the food without another scent competing with it.

What I Ordered for Brunch in Gangnam

    I ordered three items:

    • Truffle mushroom gnocchi
    • Seasonal fruit French toast
    • One glass of red wine

My Gangnam brunch included truffle mushroom gnocchi, mango French toast and red wine.

This was more food than I would normally order for brunch alone, but I wanted to try both the restaurant’s savory gnocchi and its French toast.

The overhead view shows how different the two dishes were. The gnocchi was rich and savory, while the French toast was colorful and sweet. Together, they made the table look like a complete brunch spread rather than a quick weekday meal.

Truffle Mushroom Gnocchi and Red Wine

Gnocchi is an Italian dish commonly made with potatoes and flour. The pieces are usually soft and slightly chewy, creating a texture quite different from regular pasta.

I first tried gnocchi in Switzerland during my European trip in 2011. Since then, I had rarely ordered it in Korea. At The Mignon Seoul, I had initially considered pasta but changed my mind after seeing the truffle mushroom gnocchi.

The gnocchi was served in a creamy mushroom sauce with bacon and fresh mushroom slices.

The gnocchi came in a creamy mushroom sauce with pieces of bacon and sliced mushrooms. The truffle aroma was noticeable, which suited me because I have recently started ordering truffle dishes whenever I find them on a menu.

The sauce was rich, but the soft gnocchi remained the most memorable part of the dish.

I had recently started orthodontic treatment, so food that requires a lot of chewing could be uncomfortable. The gnocchi was soft enough to break apart easily in my mouth, making it much easier to eat than chewy meat or crusty bread.

A close-up shows the soft interior of the potato gnocchi.

The close-up makes the texture particularly clear. The inside was tender, while the outside had enough structure to hold the creamy sauce.

I also ordered a glass of red wine for KRW 9,000 during my visit. I prefer dry wine, and this one suited my taste. It was pleasant with the mushroom sauce, although I thought it might have paired even better with a steak.

    Seasonal Mango French Toast

After finishing the gnocchi, I continued with the seasonal fruit French toast.

Mango was the featured fruit when I visited. The toast arrived with plenty of fresh mango, mango sauce, ice cream, cream, blueberries, nuts and a caramelized banana.

The seasonal French toast was topped with fresh mango, ice cream, blueberries and banana.

The fruit portion was more generous than I had expected. I had eaten a mango pastry at another cafe the previous day, but this plate contained noticeably more fresh mango.

I tried the toast with different combinations of mango, cream and ice cream. The warm, thick bread worked especially well with the cold ice cream, while the mango kept the dessert from tasting only creamy or heavy.

The fruit selection may change by season, so visitors should not assume that mango will always be available. Check the current menu if a particular seasonal fruit is the main reason for your visit.

Is The Mignon Seoul Good for Solo Brunch?

I was comfortable eating alone after finding a table near the side of the dining room. The table-ordering system also made it easy to browse the menu without feeling rushed.

Still, solo diners who dislike sitting in the middle of an open room may want to ask whether a side or window seat is available. Many of the two-person tables I saw were positioned in the central area.

The portions also deserve consideration. Ordering both gnocchi and French toast was a lot for one person. If you have a smaller appetite, choose one main dish or visit with someone so you can share a savory dish and dessert.

Who Would Enjoy The Mignon Seoul?

The restaurant may be a good choice for:

    • Travelers looking for brunch near Gangnam Station
    • Couples planning a Gangnam date
    • Friends who want to share a savory dish and dessert
    • Diners who enjoy gnocchi and truffle flavors
    • Solo diners comfortable with open seating

It may be less suitable if you want:

    • Traditional Korean food
    • A low-cost or very light breakfast
    • A private table away from the main dining area

Is The Mignon Seoul Worth Visiting?

If you are searching for some of the best brunch options in Gangnam Seoul, The Mignon Seoul is worth considering for its location, atmosphere and visually impressive menu.

The truffle mushroom gnocchi exceeded my expectations. Its soft texture made it easy for me to eat during orthodontic treatment, while the truffle and mushroom sauce provided plenty of flavor.

The seasonal French toast was another highlight. The generous amount of mango, ice cream and cream turned it into a substantial dessert rather than a simple slice of toast.

The open placement of some two-person tables may not appeal to everyone, and ordering several dishes can quickly turn brunch into a heavy meal. Even so, I enjoyed being able to have a savory main course, dessert and wine in one place.

I visited for a solo Monday brunch, but the atmosphere would also work well for a Gangnam date. On a future visit, I would consider trying the steak with red wine.
